Browser password export is a bridge to a real manager. The CSV it creates is plaintext—treat it like a key on the desk.
Safer move
- Export only on your PC, not a shared machine.
- Import immediately into Bitwarden/1Password/etc.
- Secure-delete the CSV (or encrypt the disk and delete + empty recycle bin).
- Turn on MFA for the email that can reset everything.
If something fails
If malware is suspected, exporting into a CSV can leak the vault—clean the PC first or enter critical passwords manually on a known-good device.
