Fix Nearby Share / Quick Share Between Android and Windows

When Quick Share spins forever, it is rarely “the internet”. Discovery needs Bluetooth, a friendly firewall, and a network that allows clients to talk.

Fix Nearby Share / Quick Share Between Android and Windows

Quick checks

  • Bluetooth on, not in airplane mode.
  • Windows Quick Share set to Everyone for testing.
  • Both devices unlocked with screens on.
  • PC Wi‑Fi profile = Private, not Public.

Deeper fixes

  1. Restart Bluetooth services or toggle airplane mode 10 seconds.
  2. Allow Quick Share through Windows Firewall on private networks.
  3. Update OEM Bluetooth drivers (generic Windows drivers break discovery on some laptops).
  4. Fall back to LocalSend if you just need the files today.

If something fails

USB Bluetooth dongles plus internal Bluetooth adapters sometimes fight. Disable one adapter in Device Manager and retry.

FAQ

Works PC↔PC but not phone?

Install the Android-facing Quick Share Windows app; classic Nearby sharing alone is PC-centric.

VPN apps?

Split-tunnel or disconnect during the send.

Still nothing?

Same SSID is mandatory; eSIM / mobile hotspot can work if both join the hotspot.
