Set Up Phone Link for Windows and Android

Phone Link is the least fussy way to keep one Android phone glued to a Windows PC—SMS, photos, and mild file sharing without unlocking the phone every time.

Install and pair

  1. Update Windows 10/11, then open Phone Link.
  2. On Android, install Link to Windows and open the companion prompts from the PC QR/code.
  3. Grant SMS, phone, and notification access you actually want (you can deny contacts).
  4. Pin Phone Link to the taskbar if you use it daily.

What works well

If something fails

Corporate phones with work profiles sometimes block Link to Windows. Try the personal profile or ask IT whether MDM forbids the bridge.

FAQ

Multiple phones?

Phone Link focuses on one primary device; switching is possible but clunky.

Uses much battery?

Bluetooth stays active; expect a small drain, not a flat battery.

Linux?

No official Phone Link client—use scrcpy or KDE Connect instead.
